"Radkris" (left) chats with other panelists at the launch of his novel The Adventure of Black Drop, published by Prosody Press in Chennai (Madras), India. Says the author: "My book aims to paint a picture of the legendary detective's deductive abilities while exploring his weaknesses as mentioned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. While the Victorian author explored the possibility of a man overcoming hurdles using his deductive strengths, to become a hero, I explore the possibility of a hero overcoming his strengths to face his weaknesses, to become a man. And the partial result of my exploration is this book — the first of an already charted trilogy." The South Asian English in which this book is written is deliberately formal, highly mannered, and dependent on abstract nouns and recherché expressions, but the reader who perseveres may find something of real interest.
